Cubs, Rockies Have Discussed Bryant-For-Arenado Trade

Feb 3, 2020 9:16 AM

The Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies have discussed the possibility of a blockbuster trade.

According to a report, they have discussed a one-for-one deal that would send Kris Bryant to the Rockies in exchange for Nolan Arenado.

Colorado would likely pay some of the $234 million that remains on Arenado's contract.

This is something I heard very recently -- that, yes, Arenado would love to play for the Cubs," ESPN's Jesse Rogers said during a radio appearance. "I’ll go one step further. That they’ve even discussed a one-for-one deal, Kris Bryant for Nolan Arenado, where the Rockies pick up a good portion of Arenado’s salary over the length of the contract. I’m talking $7 or $8 million per year.

"That’s how much they need to get rid of Arenado," Rogers added, "and he wants out."

Reds Not Expected To Trade Nick Senzel

Jan 30, 2020 7:53 AM

The Cincinnati Reds are expected to hold off trading Nick Senzel, according to Dick Williams.

He is expected to be on Cincinnati's Opening Day roster.

"Yeah, I do," Williams said when asked if he thinks Senzel will be on the Opening Day roster. "I like what he brings to our club. He's one of our own. He's an impact, young offensive player. They don't come along very often. The flexibility he brings to the club, attitude he brings. At this point, we see him as very much a part of a winning, championship team here."

Senzel was rumored in trade talks for most of the winter.

Nolan Arenado Done Talking About Relationship With Rockies

Jan 24, 2020 7:50 AM

Nolan Arenado says he's focused on baseball and won't publicly discuss his relationship with the Colorado Rockies going forward.

"There has been a lot of stuff going on that nobody knows about, and I was reacting to what was said, and [that] was out of character for me because I'm very private with my life," Arenado wrote in a statement released to the Denver Post.

"The Rockies have been talking to my agent and me this offseason about a number of things that will remain between us. I will not speak on these things anymore. I'm getting ready for the upcoming season. I'm working hard to get better for my teammates and fans."

Jeff Bridich declared on Monday that the team had ended trade talks for Arenado. The third baseman followed that up by telling MLB.com that there was "a lot of disrespect from people there that I don't want to be a part of."

Nolan Arenado Upset Over Rockies' Inactivity

Jan 22, 2020 8:32 AM

Nolan Arenado reacted to recent comments by Jeff Bridich by accusing the Colorado Rockies of "a lot of disrespect from people there that I don't want to be a part of."

Bridich has declared that the Rockies have ended trade talks involving the third baseman.

Arenado is upset over Colorado's inaction this offseason less than a year after they signed him to an eight-year, $260 million extension. The Rockies are coming off a 71-91 season.

He holds both a full no-trade clause and an opt-out clause that allows him to void the deal after the 2021 season.
